Red Raspberry Leaf

Red Raspberry Leaf

Red raspberry leaf is the mineral-rich leaf of the same bramble that gives summer its berries — and in home herbal practice it is famous as a women's herb. Families have reached for it for generations around the monthly cycle, for crampy discomfort and for keeping the cycle's rhythm supported, and it is best known of all as a traditional late-pregnancy tea, sipped in the last months as women prepared their bodies for birth and afterwards as they recovered. Mild, earthy, and nourishing, it is also simply a good daily tonic leaf.

Everyday uses:
• Nourishing daily tonic tea, rich-tasting and mineral in tradition
• Cup traditionally reached for with menstrual discomfort
• Traditional late-pregnancy tea in folk practice
• After-birth recovery tea in tradition
• Warm gargle traditionally used for a sore mouth or tender gums

How to use: Steep 1 tablespoon in a cup of hot water, covered, 15–30 minutes, and strain — the longer steep makes the traditional nourishing tonic. It is often blended with spearmint or nettle.

A note: Red raspberry leaf is widely used traditionally in the later months of pregnancy, but anyone who is pregnant should check with their care provider before using it. Check with your care provider as well if you are taking medication.

A gentle word, from our table to yours: The information on this page is shared for education and tradition — it describes how these plants have been used in home herbal practice over the years, and it is not medical advice. Herbs are real and active, and they are not right for every body or every season of life. If you are pregnant, nursing, taking medication, or caring for a health condition, please talk with your healthcare provider before adding an herb to your routine. Stop using any herb that doesn't agree with you. — The Benefactory Botanicals · Love • Lineage • Botanicals · Always created, never manufactured.
